After threatening to withdraw from the IFPI, major label EMI has decided to hang around. The label’s support comes at a price for the IFPI, however, as EMI and the other labels will reduce their contributions to the trade group.

The Big Four record labels - EMI, Sony, Universal and Warner have started legal proceedings to force an ISP to end piracy on its network. The action, brought against Irish ISP, Eircom, is the first of its kind.

According to TorrentFreak, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) last week released their latest report, summing up the digital music landscape at the start of 2008. The IFPI claims in the report that for every legal music download, there are 20 illegal downloads taking place.
