cientists were fascinated by the ghostly find: a human skeleton buried in an Aztec temple with a clay, skull-shaped whistle in each bony hand. But no one blew into the noisemakers for nearly 15 years. When someone finally did, the shrill, windy screech made the spine tingle.
My experience is that at least some pre-Hispanic sounds are more destructive than positive, others are highly trance-evocative,? said Arnd Adje Both, an expert in pre-Hispanic music archaeology who was the first to blow the…

Never-before-seen photos have surfaced of Elvis Presley rocking Madison Square Garden in all his jumpsuited glory. The images were taken in 1972 by George Kalinsky, the official photographer of the famed arena, the singer’s estate said Wednesday.
Kalinsky needed to get permission from Elvis Presley Enterprises, the business arm of the performer's estate, to reproduce Presley's image for the campaign. The estate asked if he had any more photos, and Kalinsky came back with about 40…

An entire industry sprang up based on the claim that flooding the nursery with piano concerti could boost a baby’s brain…also fueld many doomed attempts to teach foreign languages to infants. Why? Because babies tune into a language only when it is spoken to them regularly by a real person.
A misreading of science, coupled with soaring expectations, also fuels many doomed attempts to teach foreign languages to infants. Research in the Nineties showing that babies possess a unique ability to learn any tongue sent parents scampering…

This is a pretty cool tribute to AC/DC’s Angus Young.
