Muxtape will effectively remain closed for the general public and will only return as a music hosting service for bands.
From a user's perspective, however, Favtape is everything one could wish for in a mixtape service, including a list of the top songs on iTunes and Last.fm, as well as iPhone support and the ability to share your tapes by email or as a Twitter…

Pandora’s on the ropes, Imeem is taking off, Grooveshark relaunched today with recommendations and a long list of cool features, Blip.fm threatens to make Muxtape look like old news - the streaming music market online is expanding and contracting faster than a stadium rocker’s pupils.
We want to love IdioMag more than anyone for this. This little service grabs your publicly available musical taste data from other services, like Last.fm and Pandora, and then builds a “personalized music magazine” for you. For whatever…

A major new music survey from the UK finds that young people are willing to pay for music, but only on their terms. Those terms? Unlimited downloads, no DRM, and total control.

Last.fm announced today that for at least one of its affiliates, CD and digital music sales increased by 119 percent after its free, ad-supported music streaming service launched a couple of months ago. If the trend sticks, we may see more full-track previews coming our way from other services.

Not everybody supports a popular FCC proposal that would allow AM broadcasters to copy their content onto FM at night.
The FCC has launched another proceeding on operation and licensing rules for these community based, nonprofit stations, which can broadcast at a maximum of 100 watts of power. And Representative Michael Doyle of Pennsylvania has proposed…

U2, the world famous rock band, wants to turn all ISPs in to copyright police and have them stop all that darned piracy!
So, even if an ISP would opt to start doing inspections, and sorting out which packets were illegal, they would then run up against net neutrality violations. Net neutrality is a concept that ISPs must treat all packets of information equally no…
